This is the home page of Naples Neutrino Group studying neutrino physics at CERN.
The group masters two detector technologies: nuclear emulsions, for which the group has gathered more than 25 years of experience, and silicon microstrips, more recently introduced in the group.
Nuclear emulsion films are employed in the Emulsion Cloud Chamber as a very compact tracking and vertex detector with unprecedented resolution in combination with tungsten plates used as the neutrino target. Nuclear emulsion technology is used in the Run3 configuration of the SND@LHC experiment, studying neutrino physics in the high-energy frontier.
For the upgrade of the SND@LHC which will operate in the High-Luminosity phase of the LHC from 2030 onward, the experiment will use the silicon microstrip technology. The neutrino detector of the SHiP experiment in the high-intensity frontier at the SPS is based on the same compact and it will use the same technology.
Other than neutrino physics, our group is involved in particle physics applied to hadron therapy with the FOOT experiment and to the investigation of volcanos and archaeological structures with the use of Muon radiography.
